• Hey, our blog is not hosted here, but it’s a WordPress blog with a modified Kubrick template.

We’d like to start doing some e-commerce on our blog at goodrecordsnyc.com — here’s the interesting problem:

We can’t post individual items for for sale as individual posts will swamp the main page’s editorial content. We have hundreds of items for sale and it would be a mess. That we could tag them all as “Wall” category items would make organizing things for sale pretty easy. But we’re pretty attached to the idea of one item – one post.

So the logical thing to do would be to make one page for each item for sale. The drawback there is that you can’t associate categories with pages — and we’d like one landing URL for the stream of individual pages.

Ideally, one could make a post to a tagged category and not have it appear on the main blog itself. Take a look and let me know if there is an easy, non-hackish solution.

  • I would certainly use posts instead of pages.

The theme files could easily be modified to not list them.

Are you also going to have actual blog posts? so some posts would be on the index?

If not, you could simply use a static page for the index.

If you are, you could have an extra category for items, and just exclude that category in the ‘blog’ listings.

    Lots of options 🙂
