• After the recent Update to WordPress (5.5), when I load my site, the main navigation menu which used to appear across the top of every page now shows up for a nanosecond and disappears. Now I can only view the page it lands on (home).

I am using the Creaytve Child theme, which I am fairly certain is no longer supported by its developer. I have had minor issues in the past which I’ve been able to resolve. This time, I can’t.

How can I get my navigation menu to appear normally and stay on the page like it used to?

Also, I attempted to try a new theme, but the system won’t let me. It won’t even acknowledge any other theme. So, if I can’t get Creaytve Child to function, I’m not even sure how I could access a new theme.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • It looks like you are using a premium theme but I can not find the theme. Unfortunately, we can not help you with this though. Many times themes are still supported by their developer but the license has expired because developers only sell six-month or one-year licenses which require renewal. You will need to contact your themes developer or change the theme. There are thousands of wordpress themes out there if you are looking to change themes as you mention toward the end of your post you just need to search google for a theme you like. You can also search the theme library here on wp.org https://wordpress.org/themes/ to find a free one.

Hope this gets you headed in the right direction.

Thank you greatly for your response. Yes, the developer has vanished and as such I do not know how or if I can update my current theme.

I am not opposed to a premium theme… if I know where to find them. And then, assuming I find one, if I update my current site, it does not mean that everything will go where I think it will, right? I should be able to preview it, correct?

Meanwhile: Where do I find the premium themes? (By the time you respond, I may have found them. Thank you so much!)

Unfortunately, there is not one place to find premium wp themes there are a few common places to look but I do not personally refer anyone to those places because the support provided in those places tends to be fairly bad. I would suggest looking at https://wordpress.org/themes/generatepress/ and https://wordpress.org/plugins/elementor/

These are both free options which offer pro versions too and work well together. If you are using the free versions you can get support with the free versions here in the forum in the appropriate support areas found on the pages I linked you to above.

To answer your question about updating/changing themes you should do that in a development version of your site. You can learn more about creating a development version of the current site/content here: https://robcubbon.com/copy-wordpress-site-private-redesign-development/

    Hope this helps.
