• Hello, I am running WP 2.0.1 and I have set my pages to display at most 7 days of posts (under options – reading options). I have noticed a strange behavior of the “previous entries” link on the main page. If I delete a post, the previous entries link will disappear until I add another post. This happens even though I have many more posts than will display on the “7 day” view.

It is like WP loses track of the post count when one or more items is deleted from the database. This does not seem to happen when I have the reading options set to display posts based on ” show at most” X# of posts.

The previous entries link will return when I add a couple of new posts to return the total number of posts to a level equal to the maximum number of posts that I have had so far. (i.e. if I have 27 posts and delete 2. The navigation link will not return until I add 2 new posts to replace the ones that were deleted.) Has anyone else noticed behavior like this?

I have been tinkering with this on a test blog on wordpress.com. It seemd that there is a bug where if I change the timestamp on any post on the blog, the navigation links break. They just stop appearing. If I delete the post with the changed time stamp, the navigation links do not return until I add a new post to the blog. Ideas for a fix anyone?

After more testing it seems that the problem is with the reading option for view at most X# of days. Setting the view option that way casues the previous posts and next posts links to behave in erratic ways. When the option is set to view at most X# of posts the problems disappear.
