I have successfully set up a custom menu and added a replacement link for a page so that it is available on the top-level navigation menu. I have then placed child pages under this link so that I have a placeholder for the child pages. As so:
There are several issues regarding:
1. Will this correctly work with search engines?
2. Sitemap shows all pages, including blank one
3. What is the best way to achieve a navigation link to child pages without having a blank main page, as in “About Us” page and keeping search engines happy.
This does work, but still leaves the problem of the original blank page “About Us” that appears in the sitemap. I can see only one way to avoid this, but I’m not sure how this affects seo and search engines!
If I were to remove the blank page, the sitemap wouldn’t be correct.
Disable that particular link in the sitemap (not sure how?) so as to preserve navigation hierarchy/structure.
