Same for the custom post types! In Falang Settings >> Translate Options, my cpt called “Certifications” is checked and they are all translated.

But when switching the default language from NL to DE, the cpt’s are all shown in Dutch instead of German……

    Hi,

i have installed storefront on a local site

There are no problem to translate menu item. the translation are published (top right of the translation page)

The translations are not the issue. If I switch from NL to DE with the language switcher, everything works fine.

But if I change the default language from NL to DE in the admin and then go back to the root of the site (/), everything shows in DE, except for the navigation and the custom post types. These are still in NL.

You can’t change like this the default language

In Falang the default language is the language you write your WordPress site and you translate it to other language.

if you have set translation in NL and you change the default to NL you will have problem.

What is the language of your site (you write the post/menu) ?

Then why is there an option to change the default language in /wp-admin/admin.php?page=falang-language if it causes problems? This options suggests that I can change the default language at random.

The site is was set up in NL and now the customer want the default language to be DE.

when you install falang the english language is installed by default , you have to install the language you use and set it by default NL in your case

You can make an automatic language detection and switch to it when a new user browse your site.

default language for Falang is the language you write your site, not the language displayed by default for all users (it’s something i need to add)

So if I understand correctly: once the default is set (to NL in my case), you should never change it?

That’s too bad. Changing the default language would be a nice option….

It’s in the todo list but , it’s more an option to display by default another default language
