navigate categorized attachments?

    I’m using a plugin to categorize image attachments, the plugin allows the regular wp categories taxonomy to be available in image setings. I can select categories for each image via checkbox.

    But, this is where it gets confusing,
    the images don’t have to be attached to anything, but they are still “attachments”. The categories can be assigned from media library, regardless of post association.

    So, there’s really no way to navigate this hybrid “gallery” because there’s no post to define the gallery as a gallery. If the images are attached to post, the navigation is for images in that post, not the categorized gallery.

    is it even possible to navigate categorized attachments? outside of a post?

    the plugin “easy fancy box” can do it because I can define “gallery” as the div in it’s settings. Can something similar be done with attachmant navigation?
