Support » Theme: Astra » Nav Menu display differently on older versions of IE

  • Hi Guys,

This is probably more related to wordpress and html5 than Astra but I thought I would start with here. I finished creating my site and it looks great in Chrome, Safari, IE11 etc. However, in IE10 and older browsers the navigation menu appears to the right rather than along the top of the page. The link to the fix is below. I’m not sure if I’m completing the fix in the right locations as it doesn’t fix the problem.

I update the relevant tags in style.css (assets/css/unminified/style.css)
and made sure they are showing as display:block. Actually they were configured by default so I didn’t need to change anything. I then added a document.createElement script just before the </head> of the header.php file located in the root directory.

Did I modify the correct files? Should I bee looking at one of the css files or php files as my change doesn’t work.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as what little hair I have left I am pulling out.

    Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks and regards.

You should not be modifying the Astra theme’s files as after you update the theme all your customizations will be replaced with the original files from Astra.

Instead, you could use custom CSS section in the customizer to add your custom CSS –

Astra works well with IE11+ on the older browsers css flexbox is not supported which is the main component of Astra’s layouts.
