    Hi there,

I like to use the native WordPress lightbox option alongside with your plugin, but now noticed that the option “Expand on click” in the image link settings does not appear as a choice when Easy Fancybox is enabled.

Easy Fancybox is set to only apply to images with a link and I didn’t find any other option that could help me.

Does the plugin exclude being used alongside WordPress’ own Lightbox? I am sure it worked with WP 6.4 before.

    Thanks,
    Thomas

Hi @webzunft – Yes, we did recently introduce a change to disable the default lightbox when Easy Fancybox is active. I think our assumption was that if you’re using a lightbox plugin, you don’t want to use the default lightbox.

We can look at introducing an option for this.

To help us think through it, can I ask why you’re using the default lightbox and the plugin at the same time? Do you prefer the style of the core lightbox for single images? Are you using the core for images vs plugin for something else (ie, inline content or modal popup or video)?

I am seriously irritated with the impact of your changes. Especially after you also auto-enabled the lightbox for all images in a release.

I want to use the core lightbox for images and your plugin for other media and where core doesn’t support a lightbox, yet, like for galleries.

    Thanks,
    Thomas

    Hi,

We hear your frustration and apologize for the extra hassle.

Both of the changes you mention are made in response to recent core changes – adding the lightbox and moving the setting to link images. They are designed, and we think have been effective/welcome by most, in making the lightbox extremely simple to use. You just install the plugin, and images/galleries open in the new lightbox. That’s the preferred behavior for most of our users. Hence the changes.

But obviously different users need different things, and we especially understand being annoyed that these are changes to prior default behavior.

On this one: “auto-enabled the lightbox for all images” … You can change that by going the Settings at Lightbox > Images > Apply To, and updating that setting to All Image Links instead of All Images.

For disabling the core lightbox, we hadn’t added an option, but we’ll look at doing so for the next release. The expected time frame for that would be next week.

Thanks very much for your feedback.

    Hi Thomas,

Wanted to follow up on this and let you know we’ve just released an option that allows you enable/disable the core lightbox. It is still disabled by default. But you can enable it by going to Lightbox > Miscellaneous > Disable Core Lightbox, and unchecking that box.

Between this new setting and the one above for to apply the lightbox only to images with links, you should be able to return fully to the prior behavior.

I’m going to mark this issue resolved, but definitely let us know if you have other questions.

    Thanks!
