Yoast added a new trick. In the WordPress Site Health Status there is now a warning ‘An error occurred while checking whether your site can be found by search engines’. Which seems to be a trick to promote Ryte memberships because search engines don’t have any problem indexing my sites.
Now I have to manually disable Ryte integration on all sites. I’m afraid I’ll have to look for another SEO plugin because I don’t like these kinds of tricks at all.
And I think it’s a misuse of Site Health!

We do use the Ryte service within the plugin for a courtesy check for the site’s indexability, but that is only to alert the user to any issues that might prevent the site from being indexed.

If you are you are experiencing a warning that your site’s home page cannot be indexed by search engines we ask that you please check your site in Google Mobile tester and use the Fetch the Current Status to see whether there are any indexing issue reported. This guide explains more: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/your-site-isnt-indexable/.

If the Google Mobile Tester is able to find the site but Fetch the Current Status does not resolve the issue, then the issue is with Ryte. We suggest either ignoring it or contacting Ryte for more information as to why they are unable to find the site. We use Ryte to provide a courtesy check, however sometimes they report false positives. If you wish to contact Ryte you can do so here: https://support.ryte.com/hc/en-us. Additionally, if you have concluded that the warning is a false positive and wish to disable the Ryte check we have instructions on how to do this here: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/disable-indexability-check/

My point was: the warning shows in the Site Health. You should not put it there. I haven’t found the guidelines yet for adding information tot the Site Health function. I’ll look further for this.
In the mean whole I switched Ryte integration off.

@tastymouse we’ve moved several of our checks from the notifications to the Site Health section since v13.2 of Yoast SEO for WordPress. By adding a number of these checks to Site Health, these become more visible and less intrusive. For a lot of plugins, getting notifications right is hard. Putting relevant messages and checks on the Site Health dashboard makes a lot of sense. The intent isn’t a promotion of Ryte or anything, but to help improve the user experience as a whole. You can learn more about the rationale of it in the release post here — https://yoast.com/yoast-seo-13-2/
