• Hi,

I could be doing this wrong, but I wanted to test wordpress locally to learn how to customize all it’s features. I downloaded wordpress and followed all of the steps until

“Open /wp-admin/install.php in your browser. This should setup the tables needed for your blog. If there is an error, double check your wp-config.php file, and try again. If it fails again, please go to the support forums with as much data as you can gather.”

When I open it in my browser I get some weird half code half comment page.

Please keep in mind that I created a local database and the creds in my config file are made up, not tied to an actual wordpress account.

Perhaps I have this backwards and you can only do this with an actual wordpress account? (I have one but if I can test locally I’d rather do that first…)

    HELP!

It sounds like php isn’t being processed so the code is being served as text. Are you using xampp or something else?

How did you create your local database?
