    Hi!

I’m a veritable noob when it comes to wordpress. I understand how it functions and know enough to be dangerous.

Recently I saw a link between my logo and my navigation:

    http://www.crassbydesign.com

I never saw it because when I am logged in as an admin, the link seems to disappear and until recently I hadn’t visited the site without admin.

the words “Short term installment loans military” show up with a link to some lady’s website.

when I check the source code, i found a small a href, but when I look through the actual php files it is nowhere to be found.

If someone has hacked me, is there a way to A. find out where the root of this is, and B. remove it?

I’d really hate to have to redo everything.

    Thanks in advance.

I seem to have found the issue. Something within my theme files was adding that link on to everything. I simply re-installed the theme and it worked. I don’t know how it got there to begin with, but I’ll take this as a win.

I’m glad you found a fix for your problem. The symptom you described is the result of hacking. You may want to add the Wordfence plugin to determine if there are other malware files on your site. I think you will also find this is an excellent security plugin that you will want to keep installed on your site.

If Wordfence does find questionable files, I can give you some pointers.

I scanned my site, and thankfully the only issue that was found was the issue with my theme (I kept the old theme just in case when installing the new one). It originated from functions.php.

Thank you so much for your advice!

    Great news!
