So this may be more of an annoyance than an actual issue, but when running a manual backup, I get the following error:

Mysqldump: ‘mysql’ is not recognized as an internal or external command,
    operable program or batch file.

The backup appears to complete; and I’ve made sure that my MySQL directory has been added to my windows path variable (and have verified it works via command line)

Is there some configuation I’m missing here?

  • exactly the same error message on my localhost.

I have just restored a website to my localhost to update the theme and am getting this error when running a backup post updating urls etc. Difference for me since last running a backup from this plugin on localhost is that I’m now running on Win10 (not win 7). Not happening on my live sites that run linux servers.

PS backup is running ok, the wp files and database file are being created and placed in the .zip file.

Is the error still there after the latest update? The 3.6 update should have fixed that but if it didn’t, please definitely let us know!

Kat, sorry unable to test at this time, just completed the changes on a win7 pc yesterday.

As long as your backup is still completing you can consider this an error you don’t need to act on. Basically it’s saying that one of the commands it uses to make a database backup isn’t available. As you can tell, it is able to use another method to make the database backup instead. Sometimes, though, both the major options are blocked, and the databases won’t back up as a result.

So, unless your backups are not working, you can disregard this message 😉
