Support » Localhost Installs » MySQL wont run on XAMPP. Help!

  • So I’ve got the weirdest damn problem right now with MySQL. I installed XAMPP on Monday morning and it worked great all throughout the day. I was able to get a local WP site going with no problem. Yesterday and Today, I cant get MySQL to run at all. Here’s what I’ve tried:

    1. Restarted computer multiple times
    2. Restarted XAMPP multiple times
    3. Ran XAMPP as administrator multiple times
    4. Deleted the “ibdata1” file from xampp\mysql\data
    5. Changed the port for MySQL to run on port 3308 instead of 3306
    6. Installed/Uninstalled the Apache and MySQL services from XAMPP

At this point, I am at a total loss. I just dont understand why XAMPP and MySQL would be working perfectly one day and then absolutely crap out the next.

I’ve considered uninstalling/reinstalling XAMPP entirely but I’m afraid that if I do that, I will lose my WP database and then I’m REALLY screwed. But since I cant get MySQL to load, I cant backup my database either from PHPMyAdmin.

The error I get from XAMPP is as follows:

    Error: MySQL shutdown unexpectedly.
3:45:56 PM [mysql] This may be due to a blocked port, missing dependencies,
3:45:56 PM [mysql] improper privileges, a crash, or a shutdown by another method.
3:45:56 PM [mysql] Press the Logs button to view error logs and check
3:45:56 PM [mysql] the Windows Event Viewer for more clues
3:45:56 PM [mysql] If you need more help, copy and post this
3:45:56 PM [mysql] entire log window on the forums”

Apache starts just fine but EVERY, SINGLE TIME I try to run MySQL, I get that.

    I am running Windows 10 x64 and XAMPP v3.2.2
