MYSQL Port configuration?

    Hello,
    I’m installing worpress on a SUSE 10.0 server. MySQL is running and I can connect via mysql-administrator (not phpMyAdmin) at port 3306 using the wordpress account information. However when I run wp-admin/install I get the can not connect to database message. Trying phpMyAdmin I get:
    #2002 – The server is not responding (or the local MySQL server’s socket is not correctly configured).

    I suspect mySQL needs some additona ports configured or somewhere in the installation I need to change the ports that wordpress uses.

    What port does wordpress expect to connect to mysql? Any other ideas?
