# MySQL backup

 * Exporting the database through phpMyAdmin for backup purpose or moving to another
   host/domain offers some options.
 * Other software I’m using (a phpBB forum sharing the database with WP) [sugests](http://www.phpbb.com/kb/article/transferring-your-board-to-a-new-host-or-domain/)
   that I uncheck **Extended Inserts** in the Data section.
 * How is that affecting the transfer of WordPress tables ? For a correct backup
   should that be checked or unchecked ?

 * A quick of the phpMyAdmin docs says:
 * > “extended inserts” provides a shorter dump file by using only once the INSERT
   > verb and the table name.
 * I don’t think any harm will come from unchecking. FWIW, I’ve backed up a gazillion
   times and I always leave that checked. I wonder why phpBB says not to.

 * According to [our detailed instructions for backing up via phpMyAdmin](http://codex.wordpress.org/Backing_Up_Your_Database#Using_phpMyAdmin),“
   Extended inserts” should be unchecked anyway.
