• When I a few minutes ago tried to open wordpress for some editing I found to my big surprice that I had no connection.
I open Qnap administrationside and found that wordpress no longer existed.
Wordpress library are intact on the drive and the question is whether I can install a “new” wordpress on top of the library without damage the contents.
I put a lot of work into wordpress and really hope someone can help with advice.
    Kind regards,
    icepirat

  • You can usually simply replace the files with the copies from your last backup if your database is still intact.

Of course, if you don’t have a backup, and you’re missing the /wp-content directory, you will be replacing it with a new set of the default themes and plugins. You will no longer have any themes or plugins that you added or modified yourself. Your wp-config.php file will also need to be manually recreated/edited with the proper database and user info, if that is missing.

    Thanks for the reply.
It is becoming more and more strange, this morning I tried to start WordPress, just to be safe … and guess what happened, WordPress started! I checked my IP address and what did I find, the original IP was back!
I went to Qnap to see whether WordPress installation also had come back, but it was not!
How can WordPress run when it is not installed?
How can a disappearing IP come back again?
Since I now have access to my WordPress I have, as a precaution copied all my texts into a file and therefore capable to install WordPress again.
Finally, I have found that my phpmyadmin apparently malfunctioned so I have to reinstall it..
