I recently migrated my blog (www.theroadtodomestication.com) over to a self-hosted server. In the process, I lost my sidebar items, of course. When I went in and put them back, some of them stay on the sidebar, but some of them go to the very bottom of the page. They were ALL on the sidebar before. Why can’t I keep them all there now?
Hi there, when a sidebar drops below the main content, it’s often caused either by malformed HTML code in a post, or conflicting CSS.
If you provide a link to the site I’d be glad to have a look directly and see if I can help you figure out what’s going on.
Thank you, Kathryn…I’ve since fixed that issue (although I’m not quite sure how) but now my spacing between images is off on the sidebar. Any ideas on that one?
Thanks for the link. (Just FYI, it doesn’t load for me using the link above but when I take out the “www” in the URL it does load – you might want to talk to your web host about that.)
It looks like you have some code in the images in your text widgets that shouldn’t be there. Try removing the classes, height & width declarations so WordPress automatically adjusts the image size for display in the sidebar widget.
For example, in your “Winner Of…” widget, replace the current HTML code with this:
<img alt="LiebsterAward" src="http://theroadtodomestication.files.wordpress.com/2014/01/liebsteraward.jpg"> <img alt="yellow_seal-1" src="http://theroadtodomestication.files.wordpress.com/2013/11/yellow_seal-1.jpg?w=350"> <img alt="epically_awesome_award" src="http://theroadtodomestication.files.wordpress.com/2014/01/epically_awesome_award.jpg"> <img alt="versatile-blogger-award" src="http://theroadtodomestication.files.wordpress.com/2014/04/versatile-blogger-award.jpg">
Here’s what that looked like on my test site:
Let me know how it goes.
YOU ARE BRILLIANT! Thank you so much, that worked beautifully!
