My website is unwell... (7 posts)

My website is http://www.theclapperbored.com and we use, and love, WordPress as our engine. However, over the last few days, something has gone horribly wrong and now, other than the homepage, any other page brings up a 404 error page.

I have a suspicion (or, I should say, someone on Twitter told me) that our WordPress had 'become corrupted' but I don't really know what this is, whether it's the case or what to do about it.

Any help that anyone can give would be really appreciated,

It looks like your site might've been hacked. Here's the results from a security scan by Sucuri...

Resolving an issue like this can be time consuming and difficult, so it's quite often worth getting experts in like Sucuri who do this sort of thing for a living. If you decide to do it yourself, it goes without saying that you should be very careful. Some of the steps you'll need to take are as follows...

    - Delete the wp-admin folder
    - Delete the wp-includes folder
    - Delete the root files except the wp-config.php
    - Re-upload fresh copies of wp-admin, wp-includes and root file.
    - Delete all plugins and re-upload fresh versions
    - Go through all of the theme files and fix what you can.
    - Check other themes to make sure they aren't infected with anything either

After all this is done, don't forget to change all your passwords - Hosting, FTP, DB, and dashboard

    Thanks for the help guys.

I'm almost certainly not going to try anything myself because my knowledge of computers was stretched by signing up to this forum, but I'll definitely see if I can get someone to help.

    Thanks :)
