[Resolved] My website is hacked, unauthorised Users Appearing?

  • My website is being hacked, an unauthorised users/authors are appearing, and posting posts. Any suggestions how to keep my site safe?

Also people that try and comment on my site, also appear as User / Author? is that normal?

    Thanks
    Jas

    Hello Jas,

Also people that try and comment on my site, also appear as User / Author? is that normal?

I can see that you have the settings for discussion set to user must be registered and logged in to comment – so yes that would be normal.

The main issue would be the allocated default user role they get assigned to which is set in Settings “New User Default Role” – what ever you set here is what new users will registered as so you might want to have a look at that.

Hope that helps you get to the bottom of the issue and resolve it.

I have activated the Jetpack comments, so hopefully that will solve my problem as far as people commenting and appearing as users.

    Thanks for your help 🙂
