Support » Fixing WordPress » My Webpage Sidebar HTML Edits From 'Inspect Element' Won't Save (PHP?)

  • Shawn Padraic Murphy

    I have a website here: On the sidebar it says ‘Updates’ which is a Text Widget I created. I simply want to change it to a Bold Font and Center it. When using the ‘Appearance – Widget’ options on my website, you cannot change anything.

    I used ‘Inspect Element’, only to find it doesn’t save anything, even when I am signed into my website.

    I go to my websites’ ‘Appearance – Editor’ but find the HTML isn’t there because this is apparently called PHP and it generates the HTML each time the page loads. So how am I supposed to make changes to my website? Is there a way to directly edit the Source Code? Can I save the Inspect Element changes as a file and upload it somewhere? Does this have to do with Parent or Child pages (I’ve researched so much that I might be getting everything confused with each other).

    I am using WordPress – Comic Press Theme – and ComicEasel

    Here is my HTML under Inspect Element

    <div id=“sidebar-right”>
    <div class=“sidebar”>
    <div id=“text-3” class=widget widget_text”>
    <div class=“widget-content”>
    <hr class=“widget-title”>
         Update Schedule
    <div class=“textwidget”>
         Monday & Friday
    </div></div></div class=“clear”></div>
    <div id=“text-4” class=“widget widget_text></div></div></div>
    <strong>Here is what I think is the relevent PHP called SideBar-Right.PHP</strong>
    <div id="sidebar-right">
    	<div class="sidebar">
    		if ( !dynamic_sidebar('sidebar-right-sidebar') ) { ?>
    		<div class="sidebar-no-widgets">
    			<?php _e('There are currently no widgets assigned to the right-sidebar, place some!','comicpress'); ?>
    			<?php _e('Once you add widgets to this sidebar, this default information will go away.','comicpress'); ?>
    			<?php _e('This theme also uses the WordPress 3.0 Menu system. You probably see the default stuff you have in the menubar. Go to Appearance -> Menu in the wp-admin (dashboard) and create a new menu.','comicpress'); ?>
    			<h2><?php _e('Recommended Plugins','comicpress'); ?></h2>
    <li><a href="">Comic Easel</a></li>
    <li><a href="">Viper's Video Quicktags</a></li>
    <li><a href="">Audio Player</a></li>
    <li><a href="">Theme Companion</a></li>
    		<?php }
