I don’t like the colours. The heavy use of navy blue clashes with the black background.
Personally – Minimalist white 100% of the time.
Thanks for the feedback,
did you mean white is a good color for the background? I was thinking more of a bluish gray instead of black.
I agree — dark backgrounds with white text are always a bad idea — they are simply harder to read — which discourages people from reading your content. And all content sections should definitely be black text on white. Look around the web at some good looking and busy sites — what colors are used and where and when?
Also, it takes WAY WAY WAY too long for the site to load — I never even saw it fully loaded.
The overall layout seems pretty good, and you’re obviously working hard on it. So keep at it.
consider using a color tool, pre-layout. Something like adobe kuler or just searching for color palettes for web design. best wishes
@wpyogi: really? The pages always load within 2 seconds on my browser (Chrome). Did anyone else have the same problem?
Thank you for the feedback.
The pages are CACHED on your machine. Try testing it on another machine that has not accessed the site and/or clear all your caches.
True – It takes ages for the pics to load – in fact never really got to see them all.
Right — you need to do something about that. Did you resize and reduce the resolution of the photos before you uploaded them? That usually helps on the load time — otherwise they have to be resized when the page loads.
Thank you for all the feedback.
I emptied the browser cache and the site was a bit slower, but not as slow as you guy said. I think it might be a server issue, I’m on a $1/month hosting plan.
Are you referring to the images on the homepage, or the ones in the blog posts? Because those in the homepage are already resized.
Thanks
There’s your answer right there – you need better hosting, price is usually reflective of speed\reliability etc and most people won’t stick around to see a site that hardly loads.
I disagree with white text on dark background though. As long as the as the contrast and colours don’t clash – which they don’t – it’s fine for legibility.
Nice blog, But it is loading slow. And your site all blue. You can use different colors
