No, WP-Optimize does not add or modify any core WordPress files. It operates through its own plugin files and uses WordPress hooks and filters to function. The plugin is designed to enhance and optimize your website without altering the core files of WordPress. If you still see the error, please share a screenshot of it or any file names that were modified. To ensure smooth operation and avoid conflicts, it’s recommended to whitelist the WP-Optimize plugin in your Sucuri settings. This will prevent any unnecessary warnings and ensure that image compression and other features function seamlessly. Additionally, it’s better to clear the cache after activating any plugin to ensure all changes take effect properly.

    Hi,

Unfortunately, we need to login to see that screenshot.

Can you try using this tool instead: https://snipboard.io/

Sucurri does this when a there has been a file change in the wp-admin or wp-includes

As my colleague has said, WPO does not write to these directories so it is unlikely to be the culprit.

If you post a screenshot of what you are seeing, we might be able to point you in the right direction.

Thanks so much for your time and support. My website is running fine so I think everything is ok. Im really grateful for your feedback around wp optimise. So now im still seeing this message (as seen in snipboard shots) – Do I need to do something to make it go away? Should I run optimisations in wp optimise? Do I leave it and it will resolve itself as part of updates?

    Thankyou again, Sarah

    Hi Sarah,

Thank you for sharing the screenshots and details of the issue.

To address the modifications in the core WordPress files indicated by the Sucuri Security scan, I recommend reinstalling or updating WordPress to ensure all core files are reset to their original state. You can easily do this by navigating to your WordPress dashboard at Update WordPress (https://obscuredestinations.com/wp-admin/update-core.php) and clicking on the button to reinstall or update WordPress. This process will overwrite the altered files with the correct versions from the latest WordPress release.

After updating or reinstalling, please run another Sucuri scan to verify that the issue has been resolved.

It’s important to note that WP-Optimize does not modify any core WordPress files; therefore, the issues you’re experiencing are likely due to external injections or a security compromise.

If you need any further assistance, feel free to reach out!

    Thanks!

    ok, thanks so much.

I do have another question, sucuri gives this recommendation –

    https://snipboard.io/coyWg5.jpg

So should i press hardening here –

    https://snipboard.io/q1GHgv.jpg

Should i do that before or after updating wordpress?

    Thanks again

I recommend updating WordPress and rescanning it. If the error resolves, that’s great! If not, you can try the alternative of hardening the directories as suggested.
