My site was hacked.

  • Niteblade

I had a site hosted with Uptimehost (terrible host) … and the wordpress install was hacked. I don’t know how they did it. But they installed a shell on the domain. I’m re-installing wordpress. But I think they might have screwed with the database. My wordpress install re-directs to a shell, when going to my domain.

There’s nothing on Google about this, so I assume that it’s new.

I’m going to install a captcha on my wordpress login page now for all my domains.

    Forum Janitor

    http://codex.wordpress.org/FAQ_My_site_was_hacked for starters.

Don’t try to fix it, start from scratch / backups.

    Check your .htaccess file.

If it’s shared hosting the attack was probably external to your site, so may happen again.

They changed my admin username and password in the database … it seems all else was left alone.

I have no idea what the above code does, but at least (thanks to me) Google can index it — and the “good guys” can harden their code to combat it.
