My site was hacked (or defaced as they said). Fortunately they didn't delete the content and i was able to recover it as it was. I no expert in security issues or to restrict such attacks. But isn't there a way to prevent these attacks in a simple way?
At the logs of Jetpack I saw 2 links which are defacer tools.

If any Ideas what to do, would be useful.

I used the tool http://www.unmaskparasites.com/ and the http://sitecheck.sucuri.net/scanner/ as you recommended. The only issue was a Warning for WordPress internal path: home/....
I searched how to fix it but either it was too technical or the Settings that they recommended where not existing. Anyway if you have an idea it would be useful.

Also to ensure the security of the site I installed the Better WP Security plugin and added some restrictions to the login, and to the access of some files. moreover I noticed at the log files that they have been some failed attempts to the site as the admin user from the plugin log files.

and last I changed the permissions from .htaccess and wp-config.php from 666 to 644

If I did something wrong please inform me.
