Why on earth hard code the word “store” into the welcome message on /affiliate-home/?

My site is not a store. Is that reconfigurable somewhere?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Hi, please check the following documentation. This should help you change the page URL.

Let me know if you need more information or help.

Thanks, but I don’t want to change the URL, I want to change the word “Store” that appears on that page to “Site” or something else, but its hard coded by your plugin. How do I change it? And why would you hard code something like that anyway?

Hi, when you edit the URL and change the word Store to somethings else like Affiliate the word Store will be replaced by the word Affiliate. Please give this a try and let me know if you run into any issues.

    Thank you

There is no word “store” in the URL which is simply https://domain.tld/affiliate-home/ and I also cannot change the words on the page because they are being produced by the shortcode [AffiliatesHome]. There is no way I can see to change the word “store” on that page, as you suggest.

    Hi,

Do you see the following in the documentation link I shared above?

    Home Page

Create a new WordPress page called “Store Affiliates”/”Affiliate Home” and add the following shortcode to this page: [AffiliatesHome]
Take note of the URL of this newly created home page.
Go to “Affiliates > Settings > Pages/Forms” and enter the URL of this page in the “Home Page” field.
    Save the settings.

Notice the page name “Store Affiliates”, this is what I am referring too.

    Kind regards

Please go to Affiliates -> Settings -> Affiliate Registration and edit the content in Affiliates Homepage Message.

Let me know if this helps you.

    Kind regards

I already tried that and it is not the wording which is shown as the Affiliates Homepage Message.

In the image I just sent you the 25 words or so it uses include the word “store” twice.

Here’s the content of the the box which you say produces it, and which I can see clearly does not…

This is the affiliates section of this site. If you are an existing affiliate, please <a href="https://domain.tld/affiliate-home/affiliate-login/">log in</a> to access your control panel.<br /><br />If you are not an affiliate, but wish to become one, you will need to apply. To apply, you must be a registered user on this site. If you have an existing account on this site, please <a href="https://domain.tld/affiliate-home/affiliate-login/">log in</a>. If not, please <a href="https://domain.tld/affiliate-home/affiliate-register/">register</a>.

My apologies, I missed that one. Please check the following documentation.

Let me know if there are any more strings that need to be changed.

So far its taken me 3.5 days and 5 messages just to get you to realise I need to use the word “site” instead of “store”, and now you want me to create my own personal translation in order to achieve that?

    No sir!

Working with this application and your support is not a good use of my time.

Thanks, but I think I prefer to find another piece of software to manage my affiliates.

    Thread Starter Terence Milbourn

    (@pubdirltd)

And by the way, this is not a “translation” issue, its a lack of forethought or planning on the part of the software developer, who didn’t envisage the software being used on anything but a store. Whereas, we all know, WordPress is used for many other things where affiliates can be helpful.

In the basic configuration, this software should include a free form category so that people can call it a store, or a site, or a bazaar, or whatever they want to, without having to go and make a translation update and submit it to you for inclusion.

    That’s just rediculous.

I do apologies for my lack of support. I will take this into consideration for any future questions similar to yours. I have submitted a message to the developers to investigate further your request.

Once again I am sorry for taking so long to help you.

    Kind regards

@pubdirltd, The message you are trying to customize is only shown to a WordPress user who is logged in and not an affiliate. You can customize it using this method: https://wpaffiliatemanager.com/how-to-customize-various-text-messages-displayed-by-affiliates-manager/

@affmngr My feedback to you regarding that proposition is this…

Telling a part of the market that wants to run your software, but doesn’t run a “store” (which could be as big as those that do), they need to A) download one of the configuration files, B) install and learn how to use piece of editing software, and C) submit the resulting file to you for inclusion, when they only want to change one word from “store” to “site”, is unrealistic.

Personally, I would never use a piece of software that was so complicated to make such a minor change, especially one which should have been foreseen and provided by the developer in the basic configuration.

The fact that you, as the developer, tell me now this is what you expect me to do, simply means I don’t want to use your software.

If you were willing to include that as a configuration option, I might be willing to change my mind and specify it for this project, otherwise no thanks.

@pubdirltd, This feature is now available. If you update the plugin it will appear in the settings.
