A few days ago, I had a functioning, if amateur and clunky, website at bohicablues.com. I was having trouble trying to customize themes and I installed a plugin (Concrete 5) that looked promising; something I wouldn’t have to understand CSS to use. Unfortunately, once I plugged it in, it directed my site to a page of CenturyLink advertisements. I deleted the plugin but now my website is a blank page, the tab at top says “site is under development”.

When I log in through WordPress with my Admin account, it looks like everything is just fine. My dashboard, jetpack, everything appears as it once was. When I try to delete and reload themes or pages, nothing happens because, as far as WP can tell, everything is functioning normally. But when I go to “view site”, my page and all its content are gone.

Any help would be appreciated, and remember I’m an amateur when it comes to computer jargon.

  • Try checking your site’s error logs for messages. Your hosts should be able to help you accessing your site’s error logs.

Can you check for any PHP errors in php error log? You can also try to enable WP_DEBUG so you can see and then post here the exact error you’re getting. When errors are disabled it gives just a white screen.

    How to enable WP_DEBUG

OK, I’m setting up a ticket with FatCow to see what’s going on. Also poking around myself in various files, but trying to be real careful since I’m such a n00b at this. I’m reading through the WP_DEBUG stuff now… from my perspective, it’s a little “thick”. I’m not able to discern where I find WP_DEBUG to enable it (I can’t find anything labeled “/wp -content/ directory. Maybe not looking in the right place..). Thanks, though, I at least have a hint what to look for; I have to learn this stuff at some point…

Is this the proper WP-DEBUG plugin site?

I’ve installed the plugin but so far no data about what has caused the white screen…

Have you asked your hosting company about the above?

    Error log from FatCow:

    20131006T195806: bohicabluescom.fatcow.com/ss_2248390_YqOU_install.php
chmod: cannot access `concrete/css/legacy/ccm.ui’: No such file or directory
chmod: cannot access `copy.css’: No such file or directory
chmod: cannot access `concrete/css/legacy/ccm.dashboard’: No such file or directory
chmod: cannot access `copy.css’: No such file or directory

Also, if it clarifies anything, I tried using the Weebly domain builder but I’m less than thrilled (I’m actually trying to make a webcomic so I’ll load ComicPress once I get things back under control). At the moment I tried to just uninstall and reinstall but I still have the blank page o’ nothingness, and what little I can see through FatCow is the Weebly version.

    Whew, beer time.

Looks like you got this sorted out?

Yes, thank you all for the advice. Things are up and running again and –should I admit it out loud? Yeah, I got WordPress for Dummies.

    Cheers!
