  • Did you make a database backup before upgrading?

Yes, I did – in two places

Excellent. I think you need to revert back to WP 3.4 by restoring the pre-upgrade database backup along with a copy of WP 3.4. Then, as you have such an old version of WordPress, you will need to carry out a series of smaller manual upgrades. That should avoid the problems you are having now.

See Upgrading_WordPress_Extended for the full details.

    Thanks for your advice.

    Step 1: Replace WordPress files
    ,,,,
Upload all new loose files from the root directory of the new version to your existing wordpress root directory.

for the note of doing this correctly. I realize that the files is to be copied to http://www.swedishpunkfanzines.com/html (root) can not be uploaded of some reason….

Sorry for the last question, I really appreciate the help. Would the sequence to upgrade to 3.5 and then 3.6 followed by 3.7 etc make sense?

Yes – except I think you could use a sequence like: 3.4 -> 3.6 -> 3.8 -> 3.9. Ideally, you should not update more than 2 major versions in a single step if you want to minimise the chance of database damage.

Thanks! I mark this resolved then
