I have had my RSS feed working for quite some time now. I had a plugin redirecting all my feed readers to my feedburner feed. The feed I was using was http://www.asktheadmin.com/feed and the feedburner feed is http://www.feedburner.com./asktheadmin. The feedburner feed stopped updating and now the original feed displays this:

The XML page cannot be displayed
Cannot view XML input using style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.

    ——————————————————————————–

XML document must have a top level element. Error processing resource ‘http://www.asktheadmin.com/feed’.

I checked my servers log and i see entries like this:

[Tue Apr 07 23:50:26 2009] [error] [client 74.125.44.136] PHP Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /home/ata/public_html/wp-includes/formatting.php on line 1117

[Wed Apr 08 07:20:00 2009] [error] [client 67.192.109.109] PHP Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /home/ata/public_html/wp-includes/formatting.php on line 40

There are hundreds of these entries but I do not know if it is related. No new plugins have been added or activated.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

You can boost Maximum execution in your .htaccess file. That might help.

Problem found my # of posts to be shown on the rss feed was somehow 2000 – this broke the size of the feed and caused all sorts of issues. But until I disabled all the plugins I was NOT getting this error.

It is fixed now and I will check out .htaccess for the other issue.

    Thanks!
