My right sidebar on State of Mind has disappeared!?

  • Did you change theme options to not show it? It’s there but its greyed out like it isnt activated. No we cant see your wp-admin without the login and I dont recommend posting it here.

    No I didn’t change any theme options – I don’t see any “GREY OUT” option under “THEMES”. I have added a new domain name and have been working on that. But I assume that this is not interfering with this site.

    I custom made the right sidebar from WIDGETS, which I dragged and dropped. I don’t see anything odd there when I look at it- all the widgets are there. It’s as if they stopped appearing.

    Thanks again for any thoughts..

    I show it greyed out using Firebug. Meaning it is there but invisible.

    Very difficult to suggest anything without more details but I would first go back to the file template and make sure it is calling the widgets correctly. But I doubt anyone would go edit that…

    Originally, I custom made the LEFT sidebar, and used SIDEBAR TWO for the RIGHT sidebar. I simply added widgets in the “AVAILABLE WIDGETS” section and dragged them over to the SECOND SIDEBAR. This activated them.

    I have looked at the EDITOR function, and looked at the code for the AUTHOR template. This is what I see there. You’ll notice that there is no “left sidebar” code, as I custom made this. The right sidebar is there though. Might there be another TEMPLATE I should look at here? Im wondering if somehow I messed it up. But I haven’t done anything in the last 24 hours other than call my host server and change my password. Here’ that code on the AUTHOR template.

    <div id=”main_content”>
    <?php include(‘menu.php’);?>
    <?php include(‘right_sidebar.php’);?>

    <div id=”container”>

    What’s in right_sidebar.php then?

    I will compare the LEFT SIDE to the RIGHT SIDE here. I custom made he LEFT sidebar though. It is probably messy…

    This is the right side: <div id=”right_sidebar”>

    </div>

    END RIGHT SIDE.

    Here is the LEFT SIDE.

    Hi Tjhoyt, use the pastebin.com to paste your code there, click on submit, copy the link and post it back here, otherwise your posts will be moderated.

    What we need to see is the code from your right_sidebar.php and functions.php, so paste those files on pastebin.com and post the links here.

    I will follow up tomorrow. Thank you for your help.

    I finally have been able to answer your question above. I set up a Pastebin account to paste the code. So my issue was: My RIGHT side bar has disappeared, and I don’t know why. I’m comparing the code from the LEFT to the RIGHT side on paste bin.

    This is code for the RIGHT SIDE – just two lines.

    <div id=”right_sidebar”>

    </div>

    Here is the link to the pastebin with the code for the LEFT sidebar – in order to compare to the RIGHT sidebar above.

    Finally:

    I used the SECOND sidebar, and am not clear how in STATE OF MIND theme the difference between FIRST and SECOND shows up regarding “RIGHT SIDEBAR”. (This is only ONE category, when FIRST and SECOND implies TWO.)

    I just realized that Harrison O asked for the code for the FUNCTIONS PHP. Here it is. The other code is in the above post.

    <?php
    if ( function_exists(‘register_sidebars’) )
    register_sidebars(2);

    add_filter(‘comments_template’, ‘legacy_comments’);
    function legacy_comments($file) {
    if(!function_exists(‘wp_list_comments’)) : // WP 2.7-only check
    $file = TEMPLATEPATH . ‘/legacy.comments.php’;
    endif;
    return $file;
    }
    ?>
