 * There are loads of Plug in. Which is great. But it create a problem.
    The codex
   page doesn’t list all plug in. And many plug in does the same job. There is no
   comment / discussion on the page from user on whether it is good or not. ( Something
   like user rating)

 * Here is another list:

   As for not commenting on them… everybody’s taste is different.

 * Well, if there is comment of rating system that at least we would know if it
   is good.. or its pitfall.
 * Like today i am been looking at RunPHP. What i immediately seen is the web page
   has no mention of 1.5 Support. Then i have to spend time search for it…. etc….
   And realize it hasn’t been updated.
 * Then a alternative pop up. PHPexec……
 * With comment. May be some one would have compare and said something like i like
   PHPexec better becoz……..
 * Is like reviews……… So other potential user read it and decide what to use. Instead
   of now having to use a lot of plug in and decide for yourself.

 * Only recently has there been a central location to store plugins, but there is
   still no review of it.
 * Most of the plugins are written by people when they feel they have a need for
   something and either nothing exists or what exists doesn’t fit their needs. They
   can advertise it as they see fit. In MOST cases, most plugins are created for
   the author’s blog and released as a secondary thing.
 * That being said, you can always try a plugin in WP 1.5 to see if it works, if
   it doesn’t, then you can try contacting the author.
 * RunPHP, which you mention in your post does work fine in WP 1.5, and you will
   find that many plugins that don’t explicitely mention WP 1.2 or WP 1.5 will work
   fine as they use generic WP functionality as opposed to anything specific to
   a version.
 * Regards
