Support » Fixing WordPress » My posts are showing up in my Pages dashboard listing

  • I’ve got a very strange and scary issue on one of my WordPress 3.4.1 sites. In admin, when I click into Pages, it shows both my Pages and my Posts. It does not do the reverse — in my Posts I only see posts.

In my Pages display, when I click to edit on one of the Posts that I see listed in there, it takes me to Edit Post (not Edit Page), so it knows it’s a post at that point.

So the whole problem can be boiled down to the Pages display in admin it’s grabbing both “page” and “post” post types. What gives!!

I don’t know if it’s related, but in my Media library search no longer works. I’d discovered this a couple weeks ago and had already deactivated all plugins.

I’ve got a few custom post type plugins running: Types & Views, Formidable Pro and Custom Post Types UI (currently deactivated), if these matter.

  • Update: The “posts” don’t actually show up in the Pages listing in the admin dashboard unless I search for them. If I just page through my Pages, I don’t see them, but if I search for something, matching “posts” come up. In fact, it will not even search the Pages, but ONLY Posts.

The first time I do the search in Pages, it shows results from my posts, and gives me this URL:

    …/wp-admin/edit.php?s=hype&post_status=all&post_type=page&act ion=-1&m=0&seo_filter&paged=1&action2=-1

Then, if I click search again immediately right after that, it gives me this URL (notice the post_type has changed), and then the “Posts” section in the sidebar is highlighted instead of the “Pages” section:

    …/wp-admin/edit.php?s=hype&post_status=all&post_type=post&act ion=-1&m=0&seo_filter&paged=1&action2=-1
