• Hi, there.

I’ve been creating html CTAs to incorporate in my site: http://www.nosnagringa.com.br
But today I’ve noticed that the pages and posts are misconfigured. The home page is still alright, but when I drive around the blog it’s all strange, nothing like the standard in the home page.

I even turn off the CTAs to check if they were the problem, but nothing changed.

Can someone please give me a help?
Don’t have a clue of what to do to fix it.

    Thanks a lot in advance!
    I really appreciate any help.

Can you explain what you mean by your pages and posts being misconfigured? I spot-checked your site but didn’t see anything obviously amiss, but not really sure what I’m looking for. 🙂

Would it be possible to upload a screenshot or two of what you’re seeing to help in troubleshooting?

Here’s a guide on how to make a screenshot:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/

You can upload the screenshot – in a graphic format like JPG, PNG, or PDF – in your Media Library, and provide a link so I can see it, or upload it with a service like Cloudup, Imgur or Snaggy.

Along with the screenshot, please provide a link to a couple of specific pages or posts where you took the screenshots. Thanks!

    Hey, Kathryn.

Thank you a lot for your reply. So, here it goes the images.

    HOMEPAGE

*This is how my home page was supposed to look like (you can see I was logged in when I took the screenshot) -> http://imgur.com/mdlIIOh

*This is how it actually looks like (don’t know why the logo’s background is white) -> http://imgur.com/3esQDoG

OTHER PAGES/POSTS – IN THIS CASE, THE “INSPIRE-SE” PAGE

*How they supposed to look like -> http://imgur.com/GC6W6Fw

*How they look (see that the fonts are different as well as the sidebar CTA’s display as you scroll down) -> http://imgur.com/hygunEI

Thank you so much for helping me.
Hope you have a great day!

Thanks for the screenshots and details – very helpful.

I’m seeing the turquoise background on the header, and obviously I’m not logged in. 🙂 The fonts look like the ones in your “supposed to look like” screenshot, too.

    I checked Firefox 49.0.1, Chrome 53.0.2785, and Safari 9.1.3, on Mac 10.9.5.

I’m not sure why you’re not seeing the same thing when logged in vs. out, but you might want to try a different browser than you normally use, and see if there’s any difference. You could also try turning all your browser extensions off or running it in safe mode to see if something might be conflicting.

I just looked at the browser source and may have found a clue; you have a couple of syntax errors in your HTML, as indicated by the red portions here:

    Dropbox 1

    Http www nosnagringa com br

    Some troubleshooting steps:

Did you make any edits directly to your theme files? (Not just CSS.) If so, make a backup of your modified theme and then reinstall a fresh, untouched copy of Sela.

Then, move your changes gradually into a child theme.

If you edit the theme files directly, your tweaks will be overwritten and lost every time you update the theme. Here are some guides in case you haven’t made one before:

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes
    https://www.smashingmagazine.com/2016/01/create-customize-wordpress-child-theme/

Keeping your theme up-to-date is important so you’ll get all the latest bug and security fixes, as well as keep the theme compatible with the latest version of WordPress core.

If you only need CSS changes, you don’t need a child theme, you can just a custom CSS plugin instead. Since you’re already using Jetpack, an easy way to add custom CSS is to activate the Custom CSS module. You’ll then add your custom CSS in the new stylesheet editor that’ll appear in your dashboard, under Appearance > Edit CSS.

If your custom CSS is already in a custom CSS plugin and you didn’t make any theme-file edits, one of your plugins may be breaking your HTML. To rule out a plugin conflict, you could try temporarily deactivating all your plugins. Does the problem persist? If the problem is gone, reactivate your plugins one-by-one, look at the site in between each reactivation, to find the conflict.

Let me know how it goes.

    Hey, Kathryn.

Thank you again for your answer and sorry for my delayed replay.

It’s exactly what happened. I’ve changed the theme’s main files, not just the CSS (when I did I had no idea it wasn’t the right way to change codes). I will follow your steps to fix it.

Thank you enormously for helping me!!
