  • One little issue: The page is a wide and brings up the horizontal scrollbar. This is with Firefox 2.0 on OSX.

Nice site, sits perfectly on my 17″ monitor at 1024×768…. FF2.0…. Win XP Pro SP2.

Really awesome looking blog. WinXP, 1024×768

the only problem I have is it loads slowly. it may be my connection right now, so I’ll try again later!

    A couple of design observations:

    1. Seems to take almost a minute to load over 500kb/s broadband. This maybe due to your server being inundated with requests?

    2. There’s a horizontal scrollbar even at 1024×768 resolution, full screen (Firefox, WinXP). It seems you’re using “rigid design” and haven’t allowed for those folks who may have their taskbar on the left or right side of the desktop.

Y’know, I haven’t had any problem getting it to load at all – wildblue satband, midrange….

    And I don’t get a horizontal scroll – 1024×768, 17″ screen, win XP Pro SP2, FF2 (and I checked in IE7 – no scroll, not slow; IE6 standalone – a little slower but no scroll….)

    Thanks for your feedback.

I think it loads slowly because the header image is currently 144K- could that be it?

Server: it’s on a shared server, but I doubt that I’m getting many hits yet. I haven’t even sent the link out to friends. I’m having such a great time customizing WP that I haven’t written much content 🙂 But I’ll get to that…

I did make it wide because I really believe that the majority of visitors will have monitors capable of viewing the wider site. The page div that holds the white background part is only 960 px wide…yes, bigger than a std 800…but I made my design decision and I’m sticking to it 🙂

Although if anyone wants to suggest some code or a plugin whereby the main content column could be variable so that the page could be viewed in as little as 800px width then I’ll be happy to try it out.

Right now I’m toying with creating unique sidebars for each zodiac sign page. I’d rather not create 12, but just one for all signs, but have unique content (unique to the particular sign). Right now not all the signs (those green icons across the top content area) have a category page because not all of them have content (no content=no display). But check aries or capricorn. I stuck a dummy post in so I could see the category template in action.

Also, since I found a lot of help and info on the forums, if anyone has something I can help them with feel free to contact me – you can use this or the address on my site 🙂
