• Okay, I’m very new to wordpress, and am wanting to use some hacks. However, I don’t know what to put in my my-hacks.php. I just need the basic code that you start out with.
    Thanks.

  • I don’t think you need anything in it, other than the hack you are using. I didn’t put anything else in mine and it works.

You should check out the wiki they have setup at wiki.wordpress.org, and there’s a detailed article about what to do w/ your my-hacks.php file at: http://wiki.wordpress.org/index.php/my-hacks.php?PHPSESSID=b015e0d97ac430d3c3b6869f7a016468.

    Okay, I got it working.
    Thank. ^_^

I can’t get this to work.

First it checks if you have enabled the setting for the my-hacks file. To enable this go to Options > General Blog Settings > hack_file = true. Once this is enabled it checks for a file in your blog root folder called “my-hacks.php”. If this file exists, then whatever code is in it is executed. If the file doesn’t exist then nothing happens.

This option doesn’t seem to exist in the latest nightly build, which I’m using. There is no where to set hack_file = true that I can find.

yup, afaik the option has been removed in the recent hacks.
and this is related to the new hack implementation matt has planned for WP… 🙂
drag and drop kinda implementation. i can’t wait. 🙂

Is there some kind of work-around I can use till the new implementation is ready?

    use the last stable rls?

I can’t. I need other features in the beta – especially the Movable Type API. Surely there is another way to enable these features…?

I did OK by putting an include command in wp-includes/functions.php (right at the bottom). It seems to work fine, but it gives me error messages when I’m in the Admin interface – but I can live with that.

    I don’t have a my-hacks.php file. Should I?

if u want to add hacks… then yes. otherwise no.
