My favourite WordPress plugin
-
While I understand the motivations with the new Gutenberg block editor, and I think this makes sense for some sites, it doesn’t make sense for all. And while I’ve developed a couple plugins and themes for the block editor, it is not my preferred way to do it, and not all clients like the Gutenberg editor. Classic WordPress is much simpler to develop on and to deploy. My clients do not want to accidentally add, edit or remove a block and mess up their whole website, they want me to have control of the layout and they only want to worry about updating their content the way they always have for a decade plus. They’re not trying to learn a whole new way to create content, and I’m not trying to do twice the work maintaining the old layouts and the new layouts for sites that are 10+ years old. This plugin is the best, and until the WordPress core team greatly improves both the developer experience and the content editing experience with the Gutenberg editor, I see this being the first plugin a lot of us will be installing on our clients’ sites.
