[resolved] My email address ... (6 posts)

My email address was not accepted by your software, so I never received my API information. I have done a search on your database but none of the comments exactly match mine.

The account I have registered under in order to post in here has all the same information as my initial account except for the username (already taken, I wonder why?) and my email address which has the same "name" with a different domain.

The email address I used to initially register is one of the new domains and it ends in ".info". For obvious reasons, I don't want to post my email address online but was wondering if there was some way an Admin could contact me so I could resolve this problem.

    Thank you.

I am afraid you are a bit confused and posting in the wrong place.

This forum has NOTHING to do with your wordpress.com account - which is needed for the API key.

Here you can register with whatever name/email you want - it is not related to your other registration on the wp.com site.

If you need help with your API key for activating Akismet, you should post your question to http://wordpress.com/forums

Thank you. I will try there. I thought this was the correct place.

I just went there and they keep sending me back here because I do not have a blog hosted by them. Since I cannot receive a verification email, I couldn't host a blog with them even if I wanted to do so!

Looks like a catch-22 situation, you can't get there from here. :(

Is there anyone else here who may have some additional information that would allow me to resolve this? I don't like having multiple identities on any forum or, in this case, blog???

Well since you can't receive email from wordpress.com (which is not wordpress.org) then consider setting up a yahoo email account just for the sole purpose of authenticating for wordpress.com.

I won't tell anyone you setup a different email account, I swear ;)

Possible problem solution found! I have told them about the problems some email clients have with the .info email extension and, hopefully, they will be able to find a way around it.

I have several, more normal, accounts but want to use the .info account as it is attached to my website.

    Thank you for your input!
