    Thank you Esmi, you are a star, took quite a bit of research was scared would get wrong but you were 100% spot on. Thank you.

    May I ask one more favour I would like to increase the size of the header where logo goes and hopefully put in logo of reasonable sized image. Is this the way to do it – found on site
    1. Save all your theme files to a safe place on your computer
    2. Make a copy of these files
    3. Download html-kit from
    4. Open the copies of the theme files and try to make the edits yourself
    You’ll find it’s not too hard, and because you have a backup copy of your theme files, you can experiment to your heart’s content and not have to worry about breaking anything.

    is there a way similar to what you sent me and i just follow the instrutions.

    incidentally i took a copy of the template before I changed it – just in case

    Thank you once again Sharon

    Great news i have found the code and managed to increase the size from
    80px to what i thought was 450px but there doesnt seem to be much difference between 240px or 450px as i did in stages.

    Is this because i can only increase it so far, or do i have to do something else.

    this is the site – dedicated to my dad and I want to make it as good as i can – it’s my first one – do you think I could improve it anyway. I am still working on it.

    Last thing – I change page 2 from About to Dedication and I notices it is still in the url above – can you tell me why.

    Thank you and hope one day to return the favour

    Ok_ let’s see…
    The header height is specified in style.css:

    #header {
        background: url("images/header.png") repeat scroll 0 0 #111111;
        height: 80px;
        margin: 0 auto;
        overflow: hidden;
        padding: 0;
        width: 960px;

    However, if you increase or decrease the header height, you’ll also have to adjust the position of that top nav bar (again, a simple CSS amendment to the top padding for .headerright in style.css should fix it). Using Firefox & Firebug, I can increase the header height to 450px or above without any problem. Nor sure why you couldn’t see any difference in the 250 – 450px range.

    Incidentally, I strongly recommend using Firefox with the Firebug add-on for this kind of work as you can try out CSS changes on the current page without actually editing the site’s stylesheet. Useful for tweaking things like heights and padding.

    I change page 2 from About to Dedication and I notices it is still in the url above – can you tell me why

    The page’s slug (its permalink) was generated when you first gave the page a title (“About”). That slug (/about) persists even if you then change the title. You have to actually edit the permalink to change it. Edit the page and click on the Edit link just below the page title and to the right of the permalink. Then change the permalink to match the title.

    Don’t do this too often, though as it will break any back links that you might have on other sites.

    I think that’s a wonderful idea and you’re off to a great start. If I could make one comment, it’s that it would be nice to have a photo of your dad on the front page to go with the text.
