[Resolved] my dashboard doesn’t have a plugin tab

  • Is this a new install?
If not, did it work earlier?
Are you logged in as admin?

This is a new install. I am logged in as admin. It has never shown up as far as I know because but I never knew it was supposed to be there until I went to activate a plugin.

    Any help is appreciated.

    What version of WordPress?

Did you do the install or did your web host?

I did the install, and I’m not really sure what version. In the readme.html file it says version 2. But I was expecting it to say 2.3.3 or whatever. I just did the install last week.

Looking at the source of my dashboard page it lists the following:

  • Dashboard
  • Write
  • Manage
  • Comments
  • Blogroll
  • Profile
  • What is the name of the plugin file?

At the bottom of every page of your admin area you’ll see the version listed.

When you log in, are you logging in as “admin”?
When you view the Users area, what role is your account?

Sorry. These files are listed in the source code of the menu page:

index.php
post-new.php
edit.php
edit-comments.php
link-manager.php
profile.php

Okay, thanks. Version 2.3.3

Voila. I was logged in as editor not as admin. I feel stupid, but I did try to find the answer in the documentation and by searching the forum before asking for help. It was extremely frustrating waiting to see if anyone would respond to my plea for help. HandySolo and moshu, you probably don’t get told enough how much your help is appreciated.

Thanks. Really, thanks.

Thank you for the kind words.

Glad you got it sorted out — happy blogging! 🙂
