# My Content is missing

 * I updated my WordPress Theme and in the process have misplaced all my content
   associated with it. None of my content is showing. I did reupload some of the
   files in my “WordPress Root Folder” which I think was a big mistake!
 * I can see in my FTP folders that I have a folder with all my images but my site
   is wiped clean now.
    How do I populate or import my old data? Did I need start
   over?

 * You should not need to. What likely happened was you removed the theme. The old
   theme used page templates. The new theme uses defaults. First, go to the admin
   of your site and edit a page. Select a current theme page template. Does the 
   content for that page now show? Please also make sure to clear any server cache
   in use and also your local browser cache.

 * Your content remains in your database. You cannot “misplace” content by just 
   updating a heme.

 * Probably.
 * Try **MANUALLY** re-uploading all files and folders EXCEPT the wp-config.php 
   file and the /wp-content/ directory from a fresh download of WordPress. Make 
   sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new
   ones. Read the [Manual Update ](http://codex.wordpress.org/Updating_WordPress#Manual_Update)
   directions first!
    – **BTW, if you haven’t already done, always backup everything(
   including your database) before doing any actions, just in case something really
   goes wrong. It’s a great safety net.**

 * I was tired and not thinking straight and it looks like I replaced the wp-config.
   php file.
 * I do have my /wp-content/ folder intact but does this mean I have to rebuild 
   my wordpress site?

 * – ask your host if they had a server problem.
    – – double check your wp-config.
   php file settings for the database name, database username and database password,
   and the host name (e.g., “localhost” Vs. something else). This is where most 
   errors occur. – Then make sure wp-config.php is in right location.

    Please note all you need to do is re-create your menu. Go to Appearance/
   Menu and re-create a new primary menu. Your pages will show up again. Thanks

 * Thanks, I dont think thats the case because that portfolio.html page is from 
   a old html site I must still have in my root folder. My Theme is not accessing
   any of my content, or any of the theme’s dummy content.
