[Resolved] My Calendar Glitches, WordPress 3.6

  • We are on WordPress 3.6. We started having My Calendar problems last night, version 2.2.7. First, all seemed OK on our main site but not on our phone/tablet derivative (dudamobile) site. The dudamobile glitch sorted out for awhile this AM. This afternoon, the main web site (www.bikewjw.org) had glitches in My Calendar, the details for entries would not close. This evening, I updated to My Calendar 2.2.9. Now it will not display at all, in either site. Other aspects of our site (mobile and regular) seem OK.

I saw no recent relevant discussion of this on the My Calendar thread.

First, regarding the details entries not closing, have you updated the scripts associated with My Calendar? (My Calendar > Script Editor)? These do not update automatically, to protect any customizations you may have made.

What other plug-ins are you running? This looks like a plug-in conflict that’s generating a fatal error, but you appear to have error messages disabled on your server. (Which is a good thing, generally, but also means I don’t have any information to go on.)

I did no updates to the scripts. I tinker the least I can. I did not create this site. The volunteer who did so dropped out and refused to answer any questions about the site. I can ask our server manager about enabling error messages for awhile.

About installed plug-ins, there’s quite a few. I will just list those that are active. All are the latest updates (except for # 18 as noted.
    1. Akisment 2. All In One SEO Pack 3. Another WordPress Classifieds Plugin 4. Capability Manager Enhanced 5. Jetpack by WordPress.com 6. MCE Table Buttons 7. Mingle Forum 8. Mobile Website Builder for WordPress by DudaMobile 9. My Calendar (of course) 10. NextGEN Gallery by Photocrati 11. NextGEN Resize 12. Online Backup for WordPress 13. Paid Membership Pro 14. RV Embed PDF 15. s2Member Framework 16. SI CAPTCHA Anti-Spam 17. Site Layout Customizer 18. Store Locator Plus (latest update will not install) 19. Theme My Login 20. TinyMCE Advanced 21. Websimon Tables 22. WordPress Importer 23. WP-Board 24. WPQR QR-Code Generator 25. WP Show IDs 26. WP Super Cache

    Joe,

I disabled 18. Store Locator Plus and now My Calendar is functioning as expected. Good hint.

Ick. That makes life harder, certainly. If you can get error messages enabled, even for long enough to see what error message is coming up on the blank page, that would be great. That would be one of the most valuable pieces of information I could get.

I recommend updating the scripts on the script editor page. It’s very unlikely that this will fix the fatal error (pretty nearly impossible, actually), but it is likely to fix a problem with the details panels.

Note the problem does seem to be one of the other plug-ins. Once I disabled Store Locator, My Calendar resumed working completely correctly and as expected.

I also just updated the scripts, but My Calendar was working fine again before I did the script updates.

Definitely a plug-in conflict, I’d say. Given that Store Locator was also giving you trouble failing to update, I suspect there might be some issues with that plug-in. I’ll take a look at it, in case it’s a conflict I can do anything about, but I may not be able to. (Some conflicts can be fixed by either plug-in involved; but some can only be fixed by one.)

It is not yet resolved. We have error logging enabled on the server. My Calendar is completely down and non-responsive. There is more wrong than just the Store Locator glitch.

All right. Have you had any luck getting error messages turned on?

Yes. Error messages are on. I know it may be my mucking around trying to selectively disable OTHER plugins that led to this error. When trying the web site, this is now the result.

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 491520 bytes) in /usr/www/users/verdant/wordpress.bikewjw.org/wp-content/plugins/wp-super-cache/wp-cache.php on line 2392

Our server guru Peter is checking on his end of things.

RESOLVED. It now seems to have been a server side issue. My Calendar did not cause the problems. Rather, it was the first “VICTIM” and thus showed a problem not its own.

    Glad to hear it!
