WSOD is probably not a hack but a conflicting plugin or theme problem.

Try using FTP or whatever file management tools your host has provided you with and rename wp-content/plugins to wp-content/plugins-old

Also try re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.

    Hi Jan

Thanks for the advise, This is greek to me:) I am only a bloger, I cant in any meens do what you tell me to do. I dont even know what a FTP is. You see, my log in for the blog is not there, so I can not work on the blog.

Is your advise for other places to start fixing my blog? Sorry for my stupidity Sir!

Don’t be so hard on yourself, we all started out new doing this. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Using FTP or host provided file management tools really is one of the simpler methods of disabling plugins like that. But it may not be a plugin issue, it could be a theme issue or something else.

Can you ask your host for how to get access to your error_log file? When a 500 error like that happens the web server usually logs what is causing the problem.

If you do get that, try posting the error log here. If the log is large (more than 50 lines for example) then please use instead to share that.

    Thanks Jan

for the last 24 hours I have been in contact with Bluehost, my host.

This is some of our conversation:

JC: What is the URL (Web Address) where I can see your error?
    You said:
You said: I dont know my error eighter due to the lack of blog. Its not aviabble to me.
You said: Could you restore the blog Sir?
JC: I think that it may be hacked, when did you notice the issue happening?
You said: This did happen last night norwegian time- about 17 hours ago.
JC: those are the available restores on your account,
JC: which one would you like to restore back to?
You said: the one for set 21. please sir. Is that possible?

JC: Let me take a look. Give me a few moments please.

    You said: Thanks!
JC: Ok I have done the restore.

You said: When will the blog ba aviable? Itยดs still not Sir
You said: Will it take some time to get it available?
JC: The restore can take some time to complete, I would give it about 20 minutes, if you are still not able to see your site, then I am positive that your site has been hacked. If that is the case it is not something that we support, however There are quite a few things you can do on your end to troubleshoot, fix, and prevent these hacks/malwares/vulnerabilities in the future.

First, it’s always best to update. Anywhere from your WordPress, to plugins, to scripts, to themes, etc.
Second, setting up permissions for your files which will enable/disable write access, etc.
Third, you can always setup a password protected section, but this is more of a drastic solution.
Fourth, check databases on your account to be sure there aren’t any you’re not using.
Fifth, make sure your computer isn’t infected with a Virus/Malware.
Sixth, Check your local network (wifi) to be sure there’s nothing there.
Seventh, hire a developer who is an expert in this field and would know what to look for
Eighth, check for online ‘scanners’ that can scan your website files for any vulnerabilities. You can find some for free, or you can try companies like SiteLock.

They can not give me my error_log file Sir.

The bluehost suport team said my blog most probably have been hacked. And that is not their job to do anything about. My blog, my problem….

I am sure that there is someone on the WP Forum that will take this as an challenge to save my most important and beautiful blog. ( for mee that is)

I do hope my blog can be saved, the biggest consern is how to prevent the slimy hackers to f**k up my blog…

The bluehost suport team said my blog most probably have been hacked.

That may be the case, but your installation is tossing a 500 error. They really should be able to tell you what that is or at least point you to the error file.

Looking at your site with Sucuri SiteCheck does show warnings but they’re all 500 errors too.

If it is a hacked site then sadly you’ll need to work through a lot of resources to clean it out and secure your site. Start with the first link in the list and work your way through the rest.

    Additional Resources:

Ok, thanks Jan. Its a real disaster for me, but I will try to sort it out, or try to find someone that can work on it. It will cost my a load of money but that is not an issue. My blog is my life and will be there for a long time.

The BH support team is great but they just try to restore my blog with no success.

I can try to ask for the the error file.

Thank you very much Jan. You are the best!:):)

Thank you very much Jan. You are the best!:):)

    Thanks, I appreciate that. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Once you’ve deloused and hardened your installation, I think that you’ll be fine going forward. Check out that Sucuri site, they offer services that may help you out.

I have put the challenge to one of the good guys,

If someone have any experience with them please tell me about it.

Some money has been mention but not a lot. I do realy hope this will help me out. Thanks again Jan:)!

If it is an important site for you, you may wish to invest in hosting that promises improved security and support.

For example, for $a-little-more/month you can get daily backups and malware scanning included. I won’t mention names. I’m not affiliated with them. In fact I don’t use them ;p

TCBarrett Thanks for your advice. I know that there is a lot of hostings, also at BH that gives the guarantee of daily backups and scans include. I will take any action demaned for my blog to be safe.

The good gays at [ redacted, please don’t post other people’s email address here ] did succseed to restore my blog I am very happy for the effort they have put in to the job.

This case is closed, and I do hope other blogers that find their blog hacked, take cotact with Thomas at [ ditto. A web site link would be allowed ]
