[resolved] my blog appears as a solid color on ipad, Gravatar site (19 posts)

    This is really weird, but a friend told me she cannot access my blog on her ipad, because it shows up as a solid red color, with just the voicemail tab at the side visible. I didn't know what she was talking about, until I saw the same exact thing on my Gravatar profile. Both WP links show solid red, exactly how she described it. It was fine, until the latest update. Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance!

    Have you tried clearing your caching plugin? Also try deactivating JetPack mobile.

    Thanks. Will try deactivating the Jetpack mobile. I actually had a different mobile plug in before, WP Touch, and thought that was the culprit. I clear the caching plugin frequently.

    Well, that made no difference to the Gravatar links. Will see what my friend has to report about her ipad.

    Nope, still red. Try deactivating ALL plugins and switching to a default theme.

    Are you seeing red on an ipad WPyogi? Or just the Gravatar links?

    Yes, on the iPad - but not immediately so it's something that happens as the page is loaded.

    Try running the site through: http://validator.w3.org/

    See what that throws up?

    Wow! 163 errors and 20 warnings?! I'm not that computer savvy and will have to consult an expert, but, I haven't changed anything and this redness is a new development. It mentions a problem with Triberr and also the links plug in, so, I'll disable those and see what happens. Thanks for your help.

    Disabling those didn't seem to make a difference. I'm at a loss now. Nobody else has mentioned this problem to me, except you and my friend. I can't fix these errors, so I guess I'll be hiring somebody to do it. Thanks.

    So, I disabled all the plug ins and switched to the default theme. Made no difference, so I switched back. Not sure whether all those errors are causing the malfunction, but thanks for responses, anyway. Happy Thanksgiving, if you're in in the U.S. Any other suggestions would be welcome, if anyone sees this.

    You know how your site has that red border all around it. I think that's the cause. It comes from here:

    html:before, html:after, body:before, body:after {
    content: "";
    background: #C00;
    position: fixed;
    display: block;
    z-index: 5;
    }

    I suspect that css is produced with a plugin. If you remove the background line, or change it to background: transparent I think the problem will go away.

    I used the Jetback CSS editor and added that code after googling how to add a border, but, it's been there for months and this problem is new. Anyway, I removed all the CSS for borders now, but I don't think it makes any difference. Although I don't have an ipad, so can't check that, the Gravatar link still comes out red. Thanks for your input.

    Just viewed your site on an iPad. It worked.

    Thanks WP Ranger! Appreciate all your help. Wonder why the Gravatar link still showed red? Oh well....

    Most likely the Gravatar image is cached. It'll right itself in time.

    Not sure about that, because I removed it and re-installed it a few times, all with the same result. I just deleted it for now and will try in a few days.
    Thanks again. P.S. Did you use an actual ipad or just a simulator? I'm only asking because I tried several simulators and they all displayed just fine, but not my friend's or WPyogi's actual ipad.

    A real iPad 3. Tried before = red, after = fine.
