must poke around in the php of a theme If I screw up can I reset the theme??

I am using the Techozoic theme. I want to install an ad management plugin called, Advertwhirl. The plug in instructs me to poke around in the Appearance editor templates. I have never down this before. If I ROYALLY screw this up is there a way to rest the theme and start over???
