Multisite without sub-subdomains

    @adrianadrian

    Hi there,

    Wondering if the following is even possible with multisite. My domain’s main site and a couple of other domains are non-WP content, eg:

    example.com
    http://www.example.com
    other.example.com

    I want several WP blogs with addresses like

    blog.example.com
    otherblog.example.com
    thirdblog.example.com

    Is this possible with multisite? It seems to want me to use sub-subdomains after the first one, eg: otherblog.blog.example.com.

    What I did:

    I set up a fresh WP installation and pointed apache to it for the relevant subdomains.

    Completed installation and enabled multisite using the domain blog.example.com (perhaps this is my mistake, but I don’t know what else to use given that example.com is non-WP content).

    Now when I add a new site, WP wants it to be of the form otherblog.blog.example.com. How do I make it just otherblog.example.com?

    I have control over the whole server and DNS, by the way.

    Default behavior, given where you installed it. 😉 WP builds off the address you give it.

    You could try and map the subdomains using the domain mapping plugin.
