  • I dont think I have a solution, but can tell you why this is a problem. You cannot maintain single sign on between all your sites because they have different domains! When you log into WP, it creates a cookie that is passed to the domain that you log into, vgmods.net. That cookie which is your WP session is not passed to other domains like http://dyinglightmods.com. That is why SSO works for non-mapped domains.

Possible solution: What is your domain mapping settings settings. Go to wp-admin -> Network Admin -> Settings -> Domain Mapping

You have 5 Domain Options. I believe you need 1. Remote Login to be checked.

Thanks for explaining that I think its clearer now.

I had remote login enabled before, but now its not letting me select it, I check remote login and hit save but its automatically unchecked.

What are your domain mapping settings?

The checkboxes 2, 3 and 4 are ticked.

When I click 1. Remote Login – It doesn’t apply and is blank again after pressing save. Right now I am contacting my host about getting a dedicated IP – then I can use the A Name method which might work for me.

If you have option 4 checked then you cannot check option 1 –
    4. Redirect administration pages to site’s original domain (remote login disabled if this redirect is disabled)

If you change (uncheck) option 4, it will change which hostnames you can log into.

Yeah so even with option 4 unchecked, i still cannot check option 1. I am going to try moving this to a dedicated ip and then setup A name records. Will let you know how it goes.

Sorry I had it backwards, in order for option 1 to be checked you have to have option 4 checked. At least for us.

For our Domain Mapping setup, we use ‘Server CNAME domain’ and have option 3 and 4 checked. We had option 1, 3, and 4 checked in the past.

Thnaks i will try 3,4, and 1,3,4. So a unified login is possible across different domain names?

I have the multisite user management plugin installed so users are assigned to all sites. The login should just work for them…and it does without mapping a domain.

Finally got a dedicated ip for my site 🙂 now i can really see whats wrong. Will keep this updated incase anyone has a similar problem.

Yes. Unified login is not the same as single-sign on, mind you.
