[Resolved] Multisite with and without BuddyPress

  • I installed WordPress a few times and could not get Multisite to work properly, with or without BuddyPress.

It appears that when a new site is created, no template is applied to the site, even though the setting indicate that there is a template applied. I also tried manually changing the template in the settings, and it did not make a difference.

Also, the link at the top of the page to create a page either went to a page that did not exist or went back to the home page.

Thanks for all your work on this project!

  • They’re called themes, not templates, and yes it matters 😉 Templates are something else.

It appears that when a new site is created, no template is applied to the site, even though the setting indicate that there is a template applied.

Unless you define it differently in your wp-config, WP uses the TwentyEleven theme as ‘default.’ So if you deleted that, it won’t work.

That said, saying no matter what theme you use, you get unstyled content, then the issue is in your /htaccess. Either you didn’t correctly update it, or your server isn’t reading it correctly (to which, check that AllowOverride has ‘All’ in it, in your httpd.conf).

Thanks. The .htaccess was configured incorrectly. All is working well now.
