[Resolved] Multisite when the main blog is already in a subdirectory

  • Is there no plugin or workaround to handle path issues when a WordPress network is to be installed over an existing blog that is in a subdirectory.

For example: mysite.com/blog exists now and I’d like to change the blog to a network. Just checking for any workarounds or ideas on how best to accomplish this.

    Thanks in advance.

    Cheers.

    Jim

  • So long as you dno’t mind your sites being mysite.com/blog/sitename you can just turn on MultiSite.

If you want mysite.com/sitename you should move from /blog to / and THEN turn on MultiSite.

    I’m confused, a little.

    Originally I have MyMainWebsite.com/blog.

I enabled the network, and for example the permanent link for a single post is:

    MyMainWebsite.com/blog/blog/2011/blog-post/

Is the extra blog due to the network?

And what are the consequences for search engines, for example? Won’t my google.com/webmaster account show a ton of errors?

    Thanks.

Yes. because you picked subfolders. THe /blog/ is added to the main site to prevent permalink collisions with the other sub sites.
