    Hi, HostGator user here.
I recently installed a WP Multisite on my primary domain. I set it up to use subdomains. Everything seems to work, I can log into the Dashboard and all.

However, new subdomain creations don’t work (site not found). Tried several times, several browsers, cleared cache/cookies, waited several hours, same issue.

I think such errors are typically related to the Wildcard setup. However, this is my current setup, which (to me) suggests it’s been added correctly:

    Subdomain: *.site.com
    Document root: /Public_HTML
What else could the issue be?

Probably its your DNS. You may not have setup wildcard subdomains correctly.

Go to https://www.whatsmydns.net/ and put in your subdomains. Do you get the same IP as your main domain?

    Hi there,
Its funny how some procedures should be simple enough, but sometimes all hell breaks lose due to random hiccups.

In my case, a Hostgator rep simply had to “reload the zone file.” According to him, the process should be automatic, but it got stuck in my case.

    Thanks for responding!
