• System Error Message

Hi i just set up multisite to try it out on a subdomain but using the subdomain. So even though it doesnt sound great each site is a subdomain of a subdomain (This is only to try and figure out multisite before using a normal domain)

When i click dashboard it brings up the url correctly but with a website from a totally different subdomain. i.e. test1.test.domain.com brings up content of email.domain.com (a non wordpress related website not part of hosting or webmail) but with the url of test1.test.domainc.om/wp-admin (brings up 404 but going to root of url from there goes to email without the url changing). If i select visit site it pops up with the server url misconfigured error.

i’ve tried using both an A record and CNAME, and following the instructions, what can i do to fix this?

Im using a dedicated host running cpanel/whm/centos. The subdomains like email and test each have their own hosting account on the server.

I’d have taken a look but you forgot to include your domain name and the subdomains involved.

Anyway, it’s probably CPanel thinking the subdomains are to be pointed at their own subdirectories instead of the multisite’s root directory… that’s if you have the DNS records right.

You’ll see the webserver responding instead of WordPress responses in the above case or else a DNS error for the subdomain not having a proper A record.

Easy fix once you determine the issue.
