Support » Networking WordPress » Multisite Redirect Loop and other Issues

  • So I’ve been working on a website on one server and just recently had to migrate it over to another server to continue working on it. I was able to move the majority of the site fine, having experience with changing the database and exporting/uploading the wp-contents folder. However I have now run into this weird thing where when I try to go to the network admin, it gives me a redirect loop. The odd thing is its only for the network admin and not the admin for the individual sites on my network. Additionally I have run into an issue where I couldn’t edit any of the pages currently on the site. If I hit edit on one of them, all I get is the home screen. I’m getting really frustrated with this, as this is now the third time I’ve fought with this.

  • I had the same problem with the network admin giving a redirect loop. I had changed the entire network to a different domain name (from justordinaryfolks.com to btloc.com).
I tried everything I could think of via the wp-config, .htaccess and all the domain options in cPanel – all without success.
I finally decided to edit the database files (very DANGEROUS!). I did a search (on all tables) for the http://www.btloc.com and edited out the www. part on all the options (other than in the posts).
After that, it all started working.
I used the redirect function in cPanel to redirect the old *.justordinaryfolks.com to the appropriate *.btloc.com domains.
